1.d. 15 March:
World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated on 15 March every year. Its purpose is to protect the rights of consumers all over the world so that they can show solidarity towards their rights. The celebration of this day started in 1983. According to consumer rights, every customer should be aware of their rights so that they do not fall prey to any fraud.
2.a. India The
SAARC countries, led by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, have announced a joint strategy to deal with the outbreak of Corona virus. Heads of all countries participated in a joint meeting through video conferencing. AIIMS has released a 24×7 helpline number due to the spread of the corona virus. This helpline number is – 9971876591.
3.c. 31 March: The
central government is constantly trying to prevent the spread of Corona virus in the country. The Health Ministry has given many necessary instructions regarding the prevention of corona virus. To stop the spread of Corona virus, the central government has appealed to religious leaders to avoid such events. The Health Ministry has issued a new helpline number 1075 regarding Corona virus. Along with this, the old helpline number 011-23978046 is already active.

Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) reduced the interest rate on the Employees Provident Fund to 8.5 percent for 2019-20. The EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees (CBT) has taken this decision for its six crore users. CBT is the apex decision making body associated with EPFO. The interest rate on the provident fund for the financial year 2018-19 was 8.65 percent.

Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Bill-2020 was passed by voice vote. In this bill, it has been proposed to amend the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act-1971. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan laid down the bill and termed it progressive and said that this is the need of the hour for safe abortion of women. The objectives and reasons of the Bill stated that its purpose is to increase the access of women to legal and safe abortion services and to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rate and its complications due to unsafe abortion.
6.b. Adnan Zurfi
Iraqi President Barham Saleh recently named Adnan Zurfi, former governor of the holy Shia city of Najaf, the new prime minister, a second attempt to find the head of government in recent months. Adnan Zurfi has 30 days to set up his cabinet. He will replace outgoing Prime Minister Adil Abdel Mehdi. Mehdi resigned from his post in December after huge rallies.
This decision has been taken by the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) under the leadership of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This proposal will now be placed before the Cabinet Committee on Security for approval. Tejas is a light combat aircraft, designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The official name of the aircraft was named Tejas on 04 May 2003 by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This purchase will boost ‘Make in India’ as the aircraft is designed and developed with indigenous technology.
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, while presenting the bill, said that these amendments would fulfill the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization. With this, three regulatory bodies – the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Civil Aviation Safety Office and the Air Accident Investigation Office – will be made more effective in the civil aviation sector in India. This will help in increasing the level of safety of aircraft operations in the country.

International Happiness Day is observed every year on 20 March. The theme of this year’s International Day of Happiness is Happiness for All, Together. Since the year 2013, the United Nations had announced to celebrate International Happiness Day to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world. Bhutan called for this day to be celebrated.
10.d. Article 142 The
Supreme Court, using the powers vested in the Constitution, has removed a Minister of Manipur from the State Cabinet using Article 142. In 2017, this minister joined another party after winning the election. According to the Manipur High Court during the hearing of the matter on September 8, 2017, the High Court cannot direct the Speaker to take a decision in the event of disqualification of a minister or a petition pending before the Supreme Court. He changed his cabinet and became a minister again, which was opposed in the court by other ministers.
