1.a. Shefali Varma
Shefali Verma achieved this feat as she made her way to the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup against Australia. Earlier, West Indies female cricketer Shakana Quintine was the youngest player to do so. Talking about men, Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir played the final against Sri Lanka in the 2009 T20 World Cup at the age of 17 years and 69 days.

Indian team was playing in the final of the World Cup for the first time and their dream of becoming world champion broke for the first time. Australia won the world title for the fifth time. Australia, batting first, gave India a target of 185 runs. The Indian team was all out for 99 runs in 19.1 overs. For India, all-rounder Deepti Sharma scored the highest 33 runs and Veda Krishnamurthy scored 19 runs.

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on 8 March. On this day, women from all over the world unite beyond country, caste, language, political and cultural discrimination to celebrate this day. Celebration of International Women’s Day began 112 years ago in 1908 when about 15,000 women took to the streets in New York City, USA. These women were demonstrating to demand fewer hours of work, better pay and the right to vote.

a cabinet meeting chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has approved the formation of a trust for the construction of ‘Ram Van Gaman Path’ in the state. This route will be made from Chitrakoot to Amarkantak where Lord Rama did forest exile with wife Sita and younger brother Laxman during their exile of 14 years. According to official information, the ex-officio secretary of the trust will be the chief secretary of the state. Other members will also be included in the trust.

Bimal Julka was earlier working as Information Commissioner. The previous Chief Information Commissioner Sudhir Bhargava retired on 11 January 2020. Bimal Julka is a 1979 batch retired IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. The Central Information Commission was constituted on 12 October 2005 under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The commission has jurisdiction over all central public authorities. The powers and functions of the Commission are mentioned in Section 18, 19, 20 and 25 of the Right to Information Act.

 

6. c. Pankaj Advani


Pankaj Advani defeated Ishpreet Singh of Maharashtra 7-3 in the final to clinch the title of National 6-Red Snooker Championship. This is Advani’s overall 34th national title. Pankaj won a gold medal in the Asian Games held in Doha in 2006. Advani won the world title every year after returning to professional snooker in 2014. He is the player to become the World Champion most often in the world.

Moody’s Investors Service, 5.3 percent, has slashed India’s growth forecast for the second time in just one month and expects it to be 5.3 percent in 2020. Moody’s had earlier reduced India’s growth forecast to 5.4 percent from 6.6 percent on 17 February. In addition to India in the latest estimate, Moody’s has also slashed China’s growth rate estimate for the year 2020. Moody’s has slashed China’s growth rate estimate from 5.2 percent to 4.8 percent.

Coronavirus is spreading rapidly in India. There is a steady increase in the number of infected cases in the country. The WHO is deeply concerned with the spread of coronavirus outbreaks and dangerous levels of severity. So far, more than 4000 deaths have been caused by coronavirus worldwide. After China, the coronavirus has reached almost every island. India is also vulnerable. According to the Ministry of Health of India, 60 cases of infection have been reported in the country so far.

According to the information released by the Leh Ministry of AYUSH, on 21 June, on the occasion of International Yoga Day 2020, the main event will be organized in Leh, the capital of the Union Territory of Ladakh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it. In the program organized on Yoga Day, Modi will perform Yoga asanas based on general yoga practice sequence. 15,000 to 20,000 people are expected to attend the program.

Duma, the lower house of Russia, has approved a proposal that could extend Putin’s term for two more terms. Now he can remain the President of the country till the year 2036. The 383-member Duma voted for the resolution with 340 MPs, while 43 were absent. There was not a single vote against the proposal. Putin’s fourth term as president ends in 2024.
