Every year on 13 February, World Radio Day is celebrated. The theme for this year is ‘Radio and Variety’. Radio is the most accessible media. It can be heard from anywhere in the world. Any person who does not know how to read and write correctly, they also get information through radio. It is also an important means of communication in an emergency.

 

2.d. 13 February
National Women’s Day is celebrated every year on 13 February in India on the occasion of Sarojini Naidu’s birthday. His 141st birth anniversary is being celebrated in the year 2020. They are also known as Nightingale of India. Sarojini Naidu was the first woman governor of India. The British government, during the plague epidemic in India in the year 1928, was impressed by his work and honored him with ‘Saffron-e-Hind’. Sarojini Naidu died on 02 March 1949.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation and NTPC are the top three companies in the PSU survey 2018-19. Their total profits are 15.3 percent, 9.68 percent, and 6.73 percent respectively. Whereas Air India, BSNL and MTNL suffered the most losses. According to the survey, 70 government companies were at a loss during this period and the top 10 companies accounted for more than 94% of the total losses.

 

4.b. Finance Secretary

Central Government has announced to introduce one rupee note in the market soon with new security features. The Government of India will have written in Hindi on the top of this note. It will be signed in Hindi and English by Finance Secretary Atanu Chakraborty. On this note, there will be a logo of one rupee coin on which Satyamev Jayate will be written.

5.b. Unstoppable Warrior
Joint military exercise ‘Unstoppable Warrior’ will be organized between India and England from 13 February. Significantly, this exercise is being organized since the year 2005. 120 soldiers will participate in this exercise. The exercise will be held in Salisbury Plains.

International pulses day is celebrated on 10 February every year around the world. World pulses day is celebrated by the United Nations to recognize the importance of pulses as a global food. On this day, the importance of gram, dry beans, lentils, dry peas, lupine, and other pulses is told. Nutrients found in pulses have high protein content in them.

7.a. Lalremsiamy

The forward player in India’s women’s hockey team Lalremsiyami was voted the best emerging female player of the year 2019 by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). India’s 19-year-old striker Lalremsiyami defeated Argentina’s Julieta Jancunas and Netherlands’ Frederick Malta, who finished second and third. Lalremsiyami received 47.7 percent votes from national associations, 28.4 percent from media and 36.4 percent votes from fans and sportspersons.

India’s 12-year-old Kamya Karthikeyan has become the youngest girl to climb Mount Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America. Earlier in August 2019, he had climbed Mount Mentok Kangri-2. She wants to complete the “Explorers Grand Slam” by the year 2021, under which the highest mountains of the world have to be climbed.

A team of scientists in Australia, led by Overseas Indian scientist SS Vasan, is preparing a vaccine for the treatment of coronavirus in a high-security lab. The study is being conducted by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) of Australia. If a drug is prepared against the coronavirus, it will be a big victory for scientists.
