1. Kuldeep Yadav created history, first Indian to take two hat-tricks in ODI cricket

This was achieved by Kuldeep Yadav on 18 December 2019 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium with a hat-trick in the second ODI against West Indies. Kuldeep Yadav’s superb bowling played a big role in India’s victory and the Indian team won the second match by 107 runs.

Kuldeep Yadav scored his second international hat-trick in the 33rd over with three consecutive wickets of Shai Hope, Jason Holder and Aljari Joseph. Kuldeep Yadav took his first hat-trick against Australia in 2017 at the Eden Gardens ground in Kolkata.

2. DRDO successfully tests Pinak missile system, know its specialty

The Pinaka missile system developed by DRDO was recently tested successfully off the Chandipur coast of Odisha. Pinaka Mark-2 successfully targeted all targets. The naval navigation system of the missile is also supported by the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System.

Pinaka is a multi-segment rocket launcher produced in India. It has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The Indian Army used the Pinaka Mark-1 variant during the 1999 Kargil War. The development of Pinaka started in December 1986.

3. Forbes List 2019: Virat Kohli tops 100 celebrities, Alia Bhatt leaves Deepika Padukone behind

Virat Kohli has secured the first place in this list of Forbes, beating Salman Khan. At the same time, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is at second place and Salman Khan is in third place in this list. Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone are also named in the Forbes Top-10 list.

This ranking released by Forbes is based on the estimated earnings and fame of celebrities from 01 October 2018 to 30 September 2019. This is the first time a player has topped the Forbes Celebrity Top-100 list.

4. What is the difference between Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and NRC?

The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was recently approved by Parliament. There were 125 votes in favor of this bill while 105 members voted against it. The President approved this bill on 12 December. The Citizenship Amendment Bill has become law as soon as this bill is approved by the President.

The bill includes six non-Muslim communities – Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists and minorities belonging to Zoroastrianism. To get Indian citizenship, it was compulsory to stay in India for 11 years. Under the new bill, if the minorities of neighboring countries have been in India for more than five years, then they can be given Indian citizenship.

5. Sahitya Akademi Award 2019: 23 authors including Shashi Tharoor will get this award

Recently 23 writers including politician and writer Shashi Tharoor and playwright Nand Kishore Acharya have been selected for Sahitya Akademi Award 2019. According to Sahitya Akademi, all these winners will be honored in Delhi on 24 February 2020 with a copper letter and a cash prize of one lakh rupees.

The Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor in India. This award is given annually by the Sahitya Academy. These awards were first given in the year 1955. The prize money at the inception of the award was only five thousand rupees but from time to time this amount kept increasing.

6. Supreme Court refuses to ban the citizenship law, know what the court said

The Supreme Court has recently refused to ban the law during the hearing of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Citizenship Amendment Act. However, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Government and sought an answer.

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Government on 59 petitions challenging the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. In most of the petitions filed by the petitioners in the Supreme Court, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill brought by the Central Government has been declared unconstitutional.

7. Supreme Court upheld the death sentence of four accused in ‘Nirbhaya’ case

The Supreme Court has said that there is no basis to reconsider the 2017 decision. After this decision of the Supreme Court, the way has been cleared to issue a ‘Death Warrant’ regarding the hanging of the four convicts Pawan, Mukesh, Akshay, and Vinay.

The Supreme Court, along with dismissing the plea, also said that the convict was given full opportunity to defend. The court said that there is no flaw in the trial and investigation of this case. During the hearing, the Supreme Court gave the lawyers of both sides 30-30 minutes to present their arguments.

8. DRDO successfully tests BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, know its specialty

BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles were successfully launched from ground and air platforms. The missile was launched from Mobile Autonomous Launcher from Launch Complex-3 in the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur. The DRDO designed a missile air frame, fuel management system in it.

Marine and land versions of the BrahMos missile have also been successfully tested before. The firepower of this missile is very good. DRDO is constantly upgrading this missile. BrahMos has been developed by India and Russia.

9. India ranked 112 in the Global Gender Gap Index: WEF Report

The World Economic Forum (WEF) recently released this report. According to this report, India has fallen four ranks behind the year 2018 in terms of gender inequality. According to the WEF, gender discrimination is decreasing worldwide, but there is still discrimination between women and men in health, education, office, and politics.

According to the report, there is still inequality between women and men in the fields of education, health, work and politics in the country. However, the situation was slightly better in the year 2018. In 2006, WEF presented its first report on Gender Gap. India was 98th at that time.

10. Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Narwane will be the next Army Chief of India

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat will retire on 31 December 2019. Mukund Narwane will take over this position in his place. He took over as the Vice Chief of Army Staff in September this year. Earlier, he was handling the responsibility of the Eastern Command of the Army.

Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Narwane has vast experience in anti-terrorism operations during his 37 years of service. He also participated in the Shanti Sena in Sri Lanka and served in Myanmar for three years.
